"Most people want true love. I just want a god damn cupcake."
My grandmother, May Aufderheide-Kaufman, was an American composer of ragtime music. She received training in music and visited Europe on a grand tour, yet decided to stay in the states with her family. May was a member of the Indianapolis ragtime community that included Paul Pratt, Cecil Duane Crabb, J. Russel Robinson, Will B. Morrison, Julia Lee Niebergall, and Gladys Yelvington.
She also loved cupcakes.
She married Thomas Kaufman the year her first rag was published. They moved to California in 1947 where they lived in home called Rose Villa custom designed by my grandfather. There they raised their children, and May found her passion for baking. She eventually opened her first bakery in Pasadena.
We sincerely appreciate your business, and hope our cupcakes inspire you to follow your dreams.
